What do you need to do after your liquid nose job? Are there things you can do to help it last longer? Let’s talk about it!
You finally did it! You got the non surgical nose job you’ve been wanting. But now that you’ve recovered you might be wondering… what comes next? While results can last up to one year, a lot of factors in your day to day can affect that outcome. You want to recover as smoothly as possible while ensuring you also get the best outcome you can. Let’s talk about how to make that happen.
Nutrition and Your Liquid Rhinoplasty
Would you be surprised to hear that, as with most things, the key to maintaining your liquid rhinoplasty is nutrition? Nourishing your body with the fuel it needs to move, rebuild, and feel its best will also help keep you looking your best. Lets take a look at how that happens.
Does diet affect your non surgical nose job?
Your diet plays a big role in your health in general, including how you well you heal, but it can actually play a role in how long your liquid nose job results last. This is because liquid nose jobs rely on dermal filler (most often hyaluronic acid based), which slowly dissolves over time. Foods high in sodium or sugar (i.e junk foods) cause inflammation in the body, which in turn accelerate the dissolving rate of your filler. This means if you can keep your inflammation down, you may be able to keep your results a bit longer.
Some foods that help reduce inflammation include:
- Whole foods
- Leafy green veggies
- Fruits
- Healthy fats (nuts, seeds, etc.)
However, we’re not saying you can’t indulge, it’s okay to treat yourself! The real key is finding a balance that works for you. Read more about food that reduce inflammation and see how much you can incorporate into your diet.
Staying hydrated
What you’re drinking is just as important to your results as your diet. Hydration helps feed the outermost layer of your skin, responsible for keeping moisture inside, and helps promote an environment that dermal fillers can live in more effectively. Water helps the filler stay plump and can reduce the rate at which it dissolves, so remember to refill your water bottle!
Not sure how much to drink? Most sources say 11.5 cups (2.7 liters) to 15.5 cups (3.7 liters) of total fluid is sufficient. Read more about how much water you really need.
HOW DOES SKINCARE AFFECT MY LIQUID NOSE JOB?
Some people have advanced skincare routines while other take a more minimalistic approach. No matter how you approach skincare, however, one thing is clear, it’s important to prioritize skincare and choose products that are right for your skin.
After your liquid nose job, you will need to carefully follow the instructions provided to you by your practitioner. While you’re at it, you may want to consider adding some of the following items to your skincare routine.
PRIORITIZE HYALURONIC PRODUCTS
Hyaluronic acid is a very popular skin-care ingredient, and with good reason: it’s hydrating, locks in moisture, and promotes skin flexibility. It’s also one of the most common ingredients in many dermal fillers, such as Juvederm (which is a filler we use!) When considering using any topical face product (like foundation), look for ones containing hyaluronic acid to take advantage of its hydrating properties and support your liquid rhinoplasty to its fullest.
USE SUNBLOCK
It’s no secret that sun exposure can harm your skin, but did you know that unprotected sun exposure can also damage your filler? Heavy or prolonged exposure to UV rays breaks down protein and collagen in your skin, causing different types of skin damage. Those same rays also break down fillers, so it’s important to remember to apply sunscreen before going outside! Here in sunny Chino, California we have our fair share of sun, so never skip this step! And remember, it’s best to aim for SPF 30 or higher, and to reapply throughout the day as needed.
Lifestyle
Lifestyle is a broad term that covers everything from the foods you love, activity level, and school, to pastimes, hobbies, and habits. Some habits, like smoking and drinking, however, may be taking time away from your liquid nose job without you knowing.
Smoking
It’s no surprise that smoking, in addition to affecting your skin’s health, also affects the longevity of the filler sitting just underneath it. Smoking dries out skin and it is that dehydration that limits your filler from reaching its full potential. Though it’s a difficult habit to kick, your filler will thank you!
Drinking
Let’s be honest, sometimes it’s nice to let loose on the weekend or have a drink to celebrate something important in your life. It can be a well deserved treat! However, it’s important to know that alcohol can have a negative impact on filler due to how dehydrating and inflammatory it is. But we’re not saying you should never have a drink, just remember that moderation is important, especially if you’re looking to prioritize the life of your procedure.
The Takeaway
A non-surgical nose job is ultimately not a permanent solution, but it is a safe, long-lasting option that doesn’t require risk or downtime. And while it will fade over time, many elements, like metabolism and how much filler is used, play a role in deciding how long it will last.
Luckily, there are things you can do to help your liquid nose job last as long as possible, from reducing inflammation and UV exposure to being mindful of the impact that various lifestyle choices can have on your results.
